Three Years with the New Zealanders

First World War

Skeffington and Son, London. Hard Cover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. Photos, Maps (illustrator). Believed first edition although no date. From 1914 to 1917 Lieutenant Colonel Weston was a senior officer with the NZ Division, from the time it assembled for training in NZ, through the Gallipoli campaign until he was wounded at La Basse Ville in France in 1917 and became unfit for further active service, thus ending his "three years' with the Division. Campaigns he participated in on the Western Fron included the Somme, Massines and in Flanders. His recollections of that time include observations on the Division and its different units, on other officers and the men as well as descriptions of the conditions they experienced in or out of the front line. Weston's account of the NZ Division in WWI is one of the lesser known studies, which has become quite scarce. Maybe ex-library. Moderate damage to spine, stain marks on some pages, foxing.
